This role requires collaboration with actuarial, product, compliance, and underwriting teams to ensure pricing strategies align with risk appetite and operational guidance.

Responsibilities
Develop, review, and maintain rate manuals for assigned lines of business in alignment with underwriting strategy, profitability targets, and risk appetite
Analyze rating structures, pricing factors, and relativities to support appropriate risk segmentation and pricing accuracy
Partner with actuarial teams to incorporate loss cost indications, trend analyses, and pricing studies into rate manuals
Translate complex actuarial and technical concepts into clear, practical guidance for underwriting and operational teams
Collaborate with product, compliance, and legal stakeholders to ensure pricing methodologies and rate manuals meet regulatory and filing requirements
Support underwriting guideline development to ensure consistency with pricing and rating frameworks
Conduct periodic reviews of existing rate manuals to identify opportunities for improvement in accuracy, competitiveness, and efficiency
Assist with the implementation of rate changes, including documentation, communication, and training
Monitor portfolio performance and underwriting results relative to pricing assumptions
Participate in state filing preparation and respond to regulatory inquiries related to rating plans and underwriting rules
Provide technical guidance to underwriters on rate application, manual interpretation, and exceptions
Support system configuration and testing to ensure alignment between rate manuals and rating or policy administration systems
Contribute to pricing and product development initiatives, including enhancements and new product launches
Prepare reports, presentations, and training materials related to pricing and rating updates
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Business, or a related field
Experience in underwriting, pricing, or product management within the insurance industry
Strong understanding of underwriting principles, rating concepts, and insurance product structures
Ability to read, interpret, and develop rate manuals and underwriting guidelines
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret actuarial and performance data
High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with data; experience with rating or policy systems is a plus
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with actuarial, product, operations, and compliance teams
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Detail-oriented and methodical
Comfortable working in documentation-heavy environments
Proactive and curious, with a continuous improvement mindset
Strong sense of ownership and accountability
Preferred
Hands-on experience working with rate manuals, rating rules, or pricing frameworks strongly preferred
