Instructor/Trainer

NEOGOV is seeking an Instructor/Trainer to plan, implement, and organize training and continuing education for Community Health Aide/Practitioners and other North Slope Borough employees. The role includes supervising clinic staff, administering certification exams, and ensuring compliance with health guidelines.

Responsibilities

Review, monitor and evaluate progress of individual CHA skills lists, and past session field requirements
Arrange for, assist with, and/or provide all aspects of required training classes, programs, lesson plans, preceptorship, and the certification process
Administer certification/evaluation exams
Maintain education/training files on all assigned clinical staff
Review each CHA/P's Encounter Records according to Academic Review Standards and provide appropriate follow up
Assist Program Coordinator in program reporting as required
Assist Program Coordinator in the orientation and training of newly hired clinic staff
Schedule CHA/P relief in the villages as needed
Make quarterly site visits with documentation of inspection to assigned village clinics
Ensure clinic operations in accordance with CLIA guidelines
Assist in providing primary care in the Village Health Clinics as primary duties allow under the direct supervision of a physician or as allowed by certification and/or licensure
Protect self, co-workers, and patients by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases in accordance with OSHA Regulations
Respect patients by recognizing their rights; maintaining confidentiality at all times
Obtain contact hours of Continuing Medical Education per year that meets national requirements for Alaska licensure as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant or state certification requirements as a CHP
Attend and pass any and all required Borough training
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

High school graduate or G.E.D./ or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience
Registered Nurse, certified and licensed in the State of Alaska OR CHP with two years' experience as a CHP
One year of supervisory experience
Basic Life Support Certification
Applicant must pass a criminal history background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check Unit
Documentation that the individual is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis and annually thereafter
Ability to obtain a Valid Alaska Drivers License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria within the probationary period
