Start in 2026 SummerAscent Cloud is seeking a Data Science Intern to collaborate closely with their Product and Engineering teams. The intern will work with real-world data to build intelligent features and contribute to the company's data architecture and AI strategy.

Responsibilities
Explore and analyze datasets from multiple Ascent Cloud products to extract insights and identify ML-ready features
Assist in designing scalable data structures, including data lake organization, semantic layers, and transformation pipelines
Prototype machine learning models for forecasting, clustering, classification, recommendation engines, and related use cases
Evaluate model performance and iterate on feature engineering and data quality improvements
Contribute to early data platform efforts using AWS (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, SageMaker) as well as Snowflake and Databricks
Help define how data should be organized, enriched, and governed to support analytics and AI applications
Work closely with Product and Engineering leadership to define Ascent Cloud’s long-term data analytics and AI strategic framework
Communicate findings and technical insights to a variety of audiences
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
Expected graduation around April/May 2026 or December 2026
Strong foundations in machine learning concepts: classification, regression, clustering, time-series forecasting, evaluation metrics, etc
Experience with Python and common ML/data libraries (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
Familiarity with SQL and experience working with real datasets
Interest or experience in cloud data tooling (AWS preferred), plus curiosity about or exposure to Snowflake or Databricks
Understanding of data engineering fundamentals—pipelines, transformation workflows, modeling, and metadata/semantic layers
Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts clearly
Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to help shape new AI/ML capabilities from the ground up
