Responsibilities

Review and approve payment documents
Prepare and process Revenue Collection Journal Voucher. Monthly revenue distributed from Code Enforcement is approximately $5-6M/month per JV
Maintain returned checks
Conduct petty cash audits (limited to cash bag)
Back-up for street lighting assessment and for overhead JV’s
Maintain Department vehicle inventory list
Maintain list of employees’ take-home vehicles
Remote deposits
Assist with developing the budget and enter it in the financial software
Accountant I backup (payments, purchase orders, Cash Receipts, Journal Vouchers, etc)
P-Card monitoring and monthly review
Prepare, review, analyze, and submit a variety of reports, reconciliations, communications, schedules, tables, and/or statements to and from internal departments, financial institutions, and external agencies
Resolve moderately complex reconciliations and account analysis problems requiring in-depth research
Audit, compile, calculate, and analyze a variety of financial data and transactions
Participate in developing and implementing financial procedures related to data accumulation, reporting, and archiving
Prepare a variety of financial and accounting records and reports including revenue and expenditure reports, executive summaries, and aging reports
Maintain records of account entries by compiling and analyzing accounting activities
Oversee specific accounting operations, or a complex segment of the accounting function
Coordinate with other departments to assess needs and requirements for accounting matters

Required

Minimum of three years in Accounting or Finance
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
May require a North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
Knowledge of Budgetary principles
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations
Knowledge of Governmental accounting procedures and principles
Knowledge of Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
Knowledge of Economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
Knowledge of Principles and processes for providing customer service
Proficiency in financial analysis and financial reporting
Interpretation of financial documents
Qualitative and quantitative analysis
Talking to others to convey information effectively
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Using mathematics to solve problems
