Responsibilities
Perform structural and stress analysis on aircraft mission equipment and components
Conduct classical hand calculations (primary analysis method)
Develop structural specifications for metallic and non-metallic materials
Analyze damage tolerance, fatigue life, durability, and design allowables
Evaluate strength, stiffness, and load paths of parts, assemblies, and system structures
Support design teams with sizing, validation, and engineering recommendations
Create technical reports and certification documentation (significant portion of role)
Build mathematical models and perform simulation as needed (FEA a plus, not required)
Collaborate with test teams to support validation efforts
Own projects with moderate scope and complexity
Qualification
Required
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or related field
2+ years experience in stress or structural analysis
Strong foundation in structural mechanics, material behavior, and failure analysis
Experience performing engineering hand calculations
Comfortable producing technical reports and formal documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a small-team environment
Preferred
Experience with SolidWorks
Exposure to FEA tools (FEMAP, Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.)
Aviation, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability industry experience
Experience supporting certification or regulated engineering environments
