Responsibilities

Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of innovation analysts, data scientists, and developers to deliver innovation initiatives aligned with the firm's strategy
Design and implement AI-powered solutions that streamline workflows, improve data extraction, and enhance document automation for attorneys and staff
Spearhead the development of scalable software solutions that automate and optimize data-related tasks, including the extraction, analysis, and visualization of data
Collaborate with external vendors to acquire and integrate technology solutions that align with the firm’s innovation strategy
Lead Agile and Scrum ceremonies, owning sprint-level planning, work assignment, and delivery tracking to meet defined timelines and commitments
Document and maintain comprehensive requirements for all innovation projects, ensuring transparency and knowledge sharing
Ability to design solutions that align with firm policies on confidentiality, privilege, data retention, and acceptable use of third-party AI tools
Provide mentorship and training to team members, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and knowledge exchange
Identify and evaluate opportunities for process improvements, optimizing existing technologies and workflows
Partner with product owners to refine requirements, ensuring solutions are aligned with business objectives and deliver tangible value
Assist with the extraction and transformation of unstructured data into structured formats, making it usable for various legal and operational needs
Explore opportunities to utilize internal and external data sources to create efficiencies across multiple areas of the firm, including legal operations, marketing, pricing, and talent management
Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality, timely solutions that exceed expectations

Required

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) or equivalent work experience in computer science, data science, or equivalent field
At least 5 years' experience developing and deploying AI-driven solutions, with proficiency in Python, experience building machine learning models, and working with generative AI
At least 5 years' experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms, developing actionable insights from complex datasets
Demonstrated ownership of project outcomes (adoption, quality, cycle time, cost-to-serve) within assigned practice areas
Experience leading cross-functional delivery teams (engineers, analysts, vendors) as a player/coach
Comfortable balancing hands-on work with mentoring and delivery management
Experience delivering data/AI solutions on Azure, AWS, or GCP; familiarity with managed services, Docker, and CI/CD
Hands-on LLM development (e.g., prompting/RAG) with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone) and orchestration tools (e.g., LangChain); familiarity with evaluation/safety techniques
Experience working with APIs to integrate various data sources and third-party platforms into internal systems
Experience with project management using Agile, Scrum, and Jira
Experience in structuring data from unstructured legal documents and metadata
Comfortable interacting with attorneys and taking on a prominent role, including presenting projects and providing training to clients and stakeholders
Team player, customer service focused, and adept at multi-tasking and prioritization
Initiative and problem-solving abilities with a focus on building it better and continuous improvement
Keen interest in technology and innovation, and ability to quickly learn new platforms

Preferred

Familiarity with legal technology solutions and understanding of law firm operations, including marketing, pricing, and client management, is a plus
