Operating Engineer Master
NEOGOV is seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of Operating Engineer Master at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Responsibilities
Operates, monitors and controls system wide output
Operates auxiliaries including firing up steam boilers, starting and stopping chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, refrigeration and HVAC equipment
Makes hourly readings and enter on log sheets; performs chemical & softener tests; blows down boiler
Maintains, inspects, and repairs mechanical equipment and components including compressors, condensers, expansion valves, service valves, thermostats, coils, and drive assemblies
Maintains, inspects and repairs pumps, motors, control systems, piping, and other equipment used in mechanical systems
Checks all equipment for proper fluid levels and operation before using
Stays alert for safety violations by other employees that may injure those employees, this employee, or other persons in the area
Takes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occur
Serve as lead-worker over subordinate Building Systems employees
Responsible for special events work; and campus maintenance emergencies
Qualification
Required
Three years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment
Possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990)
At a minimum possession of a 2nd class Stationary Engineer's Certificate for steam boilers
A 2nd class Stationary Engineer's Certificate for air conditioning
Must have EPA certification
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be available for scheduled shift work after regular working hours and during holidays
This position is considered an essential personnel position and must be available to respond to campus emergencies after normal business hours and during campus closures
Pre-employment Drug testing, Physical and Criminal Background check are required
