Director of Information Technology

Montegallo is seeking a Director of Technology Services who will be responsible for owning, operating, and evolving the organization’s full technology environment. This role involves strategic planning, hands-on technical leadership, and team building in a smaller, agile organization.

Responsibilities

Own and operate the organization’s full technology environment, including infrastructure, networks, applications, telecommunications, outdoor video screens, cloud platforms, and end-user systems
Develop and execute a practical, right-sized technology roadmap aligned with organizational priorities and available resources
Remain hands-on with system configuration, troubleshooting, integrations, upgrades, and vendor coordination
Lead cybersecurity practices, policies, and incident response efforts; ensure compliance with applicable standards such as PCI DSS
Plan and deliver technology initiatives such as cloud migrations, system replacements, integrations, and process improvements
Build and lead a small, customer-focused technology team; directly manage workloads, skill development, and future hiring as the organization grows
Manage technology budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships with a focus on cost-effectiveness and operational reliability
Partner closely with leadership and staff to translate business needs into practical, scalable technical solutions

Required

8–12 years of progressive IT experience, including leadership responsibility in small to mid-sized organizations
Strong hands-on background across infrastructure, networking, cloud services, cybersecurity, and business applications
Experience acting as a player-coach, balancing leadership with direct technical contribution
Proven ability to design, implement, and support technology systems without large enterprise teams or heavy outsourcing
Experience managing vendors, contracts, and technology budgets in resource-conscious environments
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Demonstrated success owning end-to-end IT environments in non-enterprise settings
Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale small technical teams over time
Strong communicator comfortable translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Deep understanding of infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, telephony, and application ecosystems

Preferred

Background in nonprofit, arts, education, or other mission-driven organizations
Experience supporting ERP, CRM, ticketing, fundraising, and related business platforms, including integrations
Familiarity with ITSM and pragmatic project management approaches (formal or lightweight)
Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and risk management appropriate for smaller environments
Relevant certifications (ITSM, PMP, Security+, Network+, CCNA, or similar) are a plus but not required
