Software Developer
Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Software Developer to support the Department's day-to-day operations through systems analysis and programming tasks. The role involves determining system requirements, translating them into code, training users, and assessing user satisfaction with completed projects.

Responsibilities
Perform both systems analysis and design, and programming tasks in support of the Department of Transportation’s day-to-day operations
Use or adapt the most current systems analysis and design methodologies from computer science including methods of business process analysis to effectively determine the requirements for a new system or the changes to be made to an existing system
Translate the requirements into computer code, and will write and test the necessary programs
Responsible for training users and assessing user satisfaction with the completed project
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Design and Development, or a related field
An additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in place of a related degree
Level 2.3 - $41.56/hr: 4 years of experience in Standard Query Language (SQL), Oracle forms and databases, Java, .NET, JavaScript, HTML, XML, or a related field
Level 3.1 - $44.98/hr: 6 years of experience in Standard Query Language (SQL), Oracle forms and databases, Java, .NET, JavaScript, HTML, XML, or a related field. The experience must include 2 years of project leadership and 2 years of system architecture
Level 3.2 - $47.12/hr: 7 years of experience in Standard Query Language (SQL), Oracle forms and databases, Java, .NET, JavaScript, HTML, XML, or a related field. The experience must include 3 years of project leadership and 3 years of system architecture
Knowledge of principles of Systems Analysis and Design including logical and physical database design and design documentation, principles of computer science, programming methods, quality assurance methods, and business process analysis
Ability to lead projects by creating project plans, project tracking, using change management, and promoting team building
The successful candidate must pass a fingerprint background investigation as a condition of employment
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States must be provided if selected for hire
