Assistant Controller

GNS North America, Inc. is a leader in conventional stamping, hot stamping, welding, and assembly, established in 2009. They are seeking an Assistant Controller to maximize financial asset returns by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems, while supporting various aspects of accounting management.

Responsibilities

Supports most aspects of accounting management
Assists in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
Assists in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
Manages journal entries, invoices etc. and reconciles accounts for the monthly and annual closing
Development of system controls to ensure data integrity
Assists in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
Participates in preparation for the annual audit
Assists the Controller in producing accurate and timely financial statements
Assists in the month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation
Utilizes accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records
Assists oversight of perpetual inventory systems by fully utilizing ERP functionality
Assists in special projects as necessary

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred; a minimum of 3 years related experience in a finance/accounting environment (preferably in a manufacturing industry); or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
Ability to formulate business plans with measurable desired outcomes, translates action plans into quantifiable and realistic goals associated with deadlines for self or others
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, financial reports and statements, and legal documents
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public
Ability to apply financial mathematical concepts such as discount and interest rates, rates of return, net present value, return on investment, and amortization, as well as common mathematical skills such as working with fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and currency conversion
Ability to apply modern algebra and statistical inference when necessary
Ability to construct and interpret graphs and charts of all types
Ability to use a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications most notably Word, Excel (advanced), PowerPoint and Outlook
Ability to use main business information system (PLEX experience is preferred), and Internet based services
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
