Manager – General Accounting
Sparks Group has partnered with a renowned government transportation contractor to seek a highly skilled and results-oriented Manager of Accounting. This role involves leading monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), and providing guidance on applicable GASB pronouncements.
Responsibilities
Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including review and approval of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
Prepare and produce the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), including notes, exhibits, and the Letter of Transmittal
Draft and review MD&A and perform technical accounting research to support reporting conclusions
Provide guidance on and support implementation of applicable GASB pronouncements and public-sector accounting standards
Support audits and financial reviews by coordinating documentation, responding to auditor requests, and advising internal staff throughout the ACFR process
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Active CPA, CGFM, or CMA certification
At least 2 years of experience at a manager level supporting public sector, governmental, or regulated entities
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and supporting GAAP/GASB implementations
Working expertise with GASB pronouncements, including GASB 87, 94, 96, 101, 103, and 104
