Senior Backend Lead Developer – Capital Markets Technology Transformation
ALKU is seeking a highly experienced Temporary Senior Backend Lead Developer to support a large-scale technology transformation program for a leading Capital Markets client. The role involves providing hands-on technical leadership across backend engineering, driving architectural excellence, and guiding development teams in building high-performance, scalable, API-driven platforms.

Responsibilities
Lead backend engineering across multiple scrum teams on a complex capital markets technology transformation initiative
Define scalable, secure, and resilient backend and API architectures aligned with enterprise standards
Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks
Design and implement API-driven services using RESTful principles, microservices patterns, contract-first development, and structured documentation with Swagger/OpenAPI
Drive modernization and legacy platform rewrite initiatives, including migration from legacy technologies and architectural patterns
Develop high-quality, performant, and secure backend code using .NET, C#, SQL Server, and supporting frameworks
Build scalable and efficient data access components using Dapper ORM
Implement distributed caching strategies using platforms such as Apache Ignite or MemSQL to support high-throughput data processing
Integrate enterprise messaging and real-time platforms such as Solace or SignalR to enable event-driven and low-latency workloads
Implement robust logging, monitoring, and observability solutions using enterprise frameworks such as Serilog, ELK, or Splunk-based stacks, aligned to client tooling
Enforce best practices related to code quality, security, exception handling, performance, and layered architecture
Lead and participate in rigorous code reviews, pairing sessions, and technical mentoring for junior and mid-level developers
Drive adoption of test-driven development (TDD) and automated unit testing using xUnit/NUnit, with strong code coverage expectations
Establish reusable backend libraries, common components, and shared frameworks to accelerate delivery and ensure consistency
Define and enforce branching strategies such as GitFlow, trunk-based development, and release branching aligned with enterprise SDLC standards
Oversee implementation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines leveraging Jenkins, Helios, and automated testing and quality gates
Partner closely with DevOps and SRE teams to ensure build reproducibility, automated deployments, environment readiness, and production stability
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, development workflows, documentation, and delivery processes
Collaborate with architects, product owners, business analysts, QA, and platform teams to deliver production-ready solutions
Support Agile ceremonies and use enterprise tooling such as Jira, Confluence, and architecture diagramming tools like Gliffy
Provide technical guidance, architectural decision support, and hands-on troubleshooting during development, testing, and production support phases
Qualification
Required
10+ years of backend engineering experience using .NET and C# in enterprise environments
Strong expertise designing and building scalable RESTful APIs, microservices, and API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI
Deep experience with Dapper ORM, SQL Server, structured data formats including JSON and XML, and performance optimization
Experience implementing distributed caching and high-throughput platforms such as Apache Ignite or MemSQL
Hands-on experience with messaging and event-driven architectures using Solace, SignalR, or similar technologies
Advanced proficiency in unit testing, mocking, and TDD practices using xUnit or NUnit
Demonstrated focus on building maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code aligned with enterprise development standards
Practical experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Helios, and Git-based workflows
Strong familiarity with enterprise SDLC processes, release management, branching strategies, and environment controls
Proven ability to lead backend development teams within complex, multi-stream transformation programs
Strong communication skills with the ability to present architecture decisions, influence technical direction, and mentor engineers
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred
Exposure to front-end frameworks such as React or Angular to support collaboration with full-stack teams
Prior experience in financial services or capital markets, including trading, risk, clearing, or settlement platforms
