Responsibilities

Lead and manage large-scale, high-visibility projects, ensuring successful execution in alignment with client and organizational objectives
Negotiate, manage, and maintain project commitments with external partners, including consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and temporary staff, through development and oversight of agreements and scopes of work
Drive financial accountability in collaboration with Practice Directors and the PMO by managing project budgets, tracking expenditures, reviewing consultant and subcontractor invoices, and providing accurate budget forecasts, including burn rates and cost-to-complete estimates
Lead the development of and oversee comprehensive project workplans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies in collaboration with other Project Leadership, the Expert Team Director, and the PMO
Oversee and ensure quality control of project deliverables, implementing robust review processes to maintain high standards
Lead the development of and oversee advanced project performance tracking systems, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to enhance project oversight and decision-making
Ensure adherence to standardized JBS project management best practices and contribute to the development and refinement of project-related guidance documents, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Lead risk management efforts by proactively identifying potential project risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and escalating critical issues to project and JBS leadership
Play a strategic role in project resource management, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and professional development of project staff
Lead and manage a comprehensive and organized documentation of project deliverables, background information, and progress reports
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and semiannual reports to meet contract requirements and JBS corporate standards
Act as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring professional and timely responses to inquiries and requests
Provide leadership and mentorship to project coordination and management staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring effective task alignment
Lead and support JBS proposal development initiatives as directed by Employee Success Manager

Required

Master's degree in social services, public health, business administration, or other related field
Project Management Professional (PMP) training
English fluency (oral and written)
A minimum of 10 years of project management experience working in a human services or public health related field or working on a similar project (e.g., in scope, budget, etc.)
13 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree may substitute the Master's degree requirement
Advanced understanding of project management best practices, methodologies, and frameworks (e.g., PMBOK, Agile, Scrum)
Demonstrated financial acumen
Expertise in government contracting, grants and cooperative agreement management
Strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and make executive-level decisions
Effective team leader and mentor
Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to anticipate and mitigate risks proactively
Microsoft Office Suite (with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint) and project management tools such as Monday, Smartsheet, or equivalent
Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk or computer workstation
Regularly uses a computer, keyboard, and mouse
Normal or corrected vision to read documents, view computer screens, and perform tasks that require visual accuracy
Ability to hear and understand spoken information in person and over the phone
Minimal lifting and carrying may be required, typically light office supplies or documents
Ability to move within the office environment to access equipment, files, and interact with colleagues
Ability to handle occasional stress related to deadlines, workloads, or challenging tasks

Preferred

Master's degree
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience managing project portfolios or programs exceeding $5,000,000 in total budget
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives
Experience leading and supervising teams of five or more staff members
