Mechanical Design Engineer
Celestica is a company focused on developing mechanical systems and modules. The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining mechanical designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality product design, and supporting the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
Design, develop and implement technical solutions in two or more technical areas
Lead smaller projects and may coordinate with other engineers including reviews of their work
Review and interpret customer documentation, conduct appropriate research, analysis and experiments with minimal direction from senior staff
Create technical proposals (solution and timelines) based on requirements
Prepare calculations on the proposed solution before completing technical drawings
Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs
E.g. Sketch and draw up designs using input from other engineers, requirements and input from design review (DFx) team
Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations and client standards
Submit drawings to management, engineering teams and customers for review
Use customer feedback and data to upgrade, improve or repair the company's existing machines
Provide support during the manufacturing process
Finalize designs and send prints to the production department
Develop product test plans under supervision; execute test plans and prepare test reports
Qualification
Required
3 years of related experience; Experience in similar job roles
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge of design engineering (e.g., analog circuit design, digital circuit design, digital integrated circuit design, etc.) for systems and printed circuit boards
Introductory knowledge and understanding of the design process for systems and printed circuit boards, subassemblies, or other related company products
Knowledge of industry and quality standards and SPC methodologies
Knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems, printed circuit boards and subassemblies
Knowledge of IT platforms, database design and programming languages
Strong knowledge of statistical process control methods and techniques
Ability to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required
Lab duties may include some lifting and extensive standing work
Lab periods may extend from a few hours a week to several weeks uninterrupted
Occasional travel may be required
