Genome Analyst

Indiana University, one of the first human genetics departments in the country, is seeking a Genome Analyst to analyze rapid genome data. The role involves conducting comprehensive analysis of genetic variants, drafting clinical reports, and collaborating with the genomics team to support optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

Initiates data analysis Software, variant classification
Drafts and reviews clinical reports
Uploads genome data
Reports to the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Collaborates closely with the genomics team to support optimal patient care
Conducts comprehensive analysis of genetic variants using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data in a clinical laboratory environment
Interprets the clinical significance of genetic variants in the context of disease, phenotype, and population genetics in accordance with established ACMG guidelines
Manages variant databases and monitors day-to-day operations of the literature searching and triage pipelines and various error-checking processes
Drafts clinical lab reports according to internal and professional standards
Ensures proper performance of activities related to basic maintenance and operation of the laboratory including creation of laboratory protocols, and participation in quality control/quality assurance activities
Drives innovation by developing new methods and improving existing procedures, quality control, and quality assurance monitoring
Leads research and development projects as they arise

Required

Master's degree in Genetics or related science field with 7 years of relevant experience
Proficient communication skills
Maintains a high degree of professionalism

Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty

Preferred

PhD in Genetics or related science field with 5 years of relevant experience
Experience in analyzing and interpreting next-generation sequencing (NGS) data
Experience as Genome Analyst/Variant Scientist in a Clinical Laboratory
