Responsibilities

Providing formal leadership and thought leadership for the division and 9 onshore and offshore team members while championing cross training and process documentation of each product’s reporting processes
Driving VM22 implementation, including overseeing modeling implementation, roadmap, and governance framework
Overseeing IA’s financial planning process, coordinating updates with partners, and ensuring clear and effective communication for key stakeholders, including senior leadership and corporate partners
Supporting strategy projections, enterprise capital strategy, and investment strategy analysis, as well as supervising annual model assumption updates and related experience studies
Facilitating reinsurance analysis to support sales growth, profitability, capital efficiency, and distribution footprint expansion
Driving efficient use of offshore teams for routine financial reporting processes and ad-hoc business support activities

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in: Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business or a related field is preferred
FSA designation required
Eight or more years of actuarial experience with increasing levels of responsibility
Proven experience in the overall management and technical oversight of senior actuarial individual contributors and/or teams of actuarial staff and driving actuarial team performance to defined business objectives
Prior experience and solid understanding of regulatory issues and applicability to the division and ongoing monitoring & tracking of the dynamic environment in the industry
Experience with fixed / indexed individual rate setting
Strong technical background including depth in risk analysis and assessment, valuation, planning, actuarial modeling (AXIS experience strongly preferred), and strong technical communication skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships within the team and across the organization
Works collaboratively across the organization to accomplish common business goals
Effectively collaborates and communicates with a wide range of non-technical stakeholders and is able to translate complex ideas into easily understandable concepts
Proactively identifies business issues and develops practical solutions to resolve those issues
Subject matter expert with the ability to develop and execute on cross-functional strategic plans
Adept at negotiating and influencing senior management decision making
Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve actuarial models and processes that support organizational goals
Leads evaluation and solutioning efforts for complex group or function-wide initiatives
Deep understanding of actuarial, financial, and industry expertise combined with unique product line knowledge and the ability to design and implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness
Provides coaching, mentoring and development opportunities for individual team members and fosters a team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Cultivates professionalism by encouraging collaboration with colleagues, ownership of results, and implementation of innovative technical solutions
