Health Science Specialist - Research Study Coordinator
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Health Science Specialist to manage clinical research projects. This role involves database development, coordination, and technical management while providing day-to-day data management and site support for the VA Research Program.

Responsibilities
Manage clinical tests and collect data
Recruit and manage subjects for clinical trials
Recommend updates to established practices and procedures
Ensure database development - coordination - and technical management
Perform a variety of complex tasks related to the conduct of research including participant recruitment and enrollment - protocol execution - data reporting and management and regulatory compliance
Utilize knowledge of the full scope of activities required to conduct single and multisite clinical research including study/project management - human subjects' protection - and regulatory/policy compliance
Collect and analyze data - educate - and interact with study participants and leadership and provide Principal Investigator with detailed and summary information and recommendations
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Possess a Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in a major study in an academic field related to the medical field - health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position
At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal service that has given you the particular knowledge - skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Health Science Specialist - Research
Specialized experience includes coordinating and managing the day-to-day clinical research projects and programs; enrolling and interviewing patients and obtaining informed consent; monitoring progress of clinical research projects; conducting research investigatory processes - study-related interviewing - compilation and analysis of data; and making recommendations of findings
Successful completion of two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree related to the position that provided the knowledge - skills - and abilities necessary to do the work of this position
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience - as described above - which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level
You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Communications, Manages and Organizes Information, Project Management, Research
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week
All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates
Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience - including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. - Peace Corps - AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. - professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social)
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience - including volunteer experience
The work is primarily sedentary with occasional walking - standing - and handling and carrying items such as paper and books
There may be an occasion need to assist study participants with mobility to study location(s)
