Responsibilities
Lead the fund accounting function across hedge funds, public equity strategies, and other liquid investment vehicles
Oversee daily, monthly, and quarterly NAV processes, including P&L, performance allocations, expense accruals, and capital activity
Oversee third-party fund administrators, with a focus on daily NAV support, trade-level accuracy, controls, and timely issue resolution
Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with US GAAP, fund offering documents, and regulatory expectations for hedge funds
Serve as a senior escalation point for complex accounting judgments, valuation matters, and operational issues related to trading activity
Oversee middle office functions including trade capture, daily reconciliations (positions, cash, P&L), corporate actions, and financing activity
Partner closely with investment, trading, operations, and risk teams to ensure front-to-back data integrity
Monitor prime broker, custodian, and counterparty relationships, including reconciliation and break resolution processes
Drive process improvement, automation, and scalability to support increased trading volume and strategy complexity
Oversee hedge fund tax compliance and reporting in coordination with external tax advisors
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of investor tax reporting (including K-1s), estimates, and disclosures
Review tax allocations, incentive allocations, and withholding considerations to ensure alignment with fund structures and offering documents
Support tax considerations related to new fund launches, strategy expansions, and investor-specific requirements
Act as a senior counterpart and backup to the CFO, providing coverage across key hedge fund finance responsibilities
Oversee annual hedge fund audits and financial statement preparation, ensuring efficient execution and timely completion
Qualification
Required
12+ years of progressive experience in hedge fund accounting, fund operations, or fund finance leadership, with a strong emphasis on public equities and liquid strategies
Deep expertise in hedge fund accounting, daily NAV processes, middle office operations, and hedge fund tax reporting
Hands-on experience with public market instruments
Proven ability to manage third-party administrators, auditors, prime brokers, and other external providers
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, hedge fund structures, and regulatory expectations for public markets funds
Preferred
CPA or equivalent professional designation strongly preferred
