Responsibilities

Ownership of composite propellant tank development test campaigns, including test planning, test equipment, and test article installation
Perform preliminary and detailed design, analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary composite tank structures
Perform research, develop concepts, and run trade studies to solve current problems and assess future opportunities
Provide manufacturing and production support, including travel when needed
Participate in subsystem test planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
Develop material and process specifications as required to deliver a reliable and high-performing tank system
Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget and technical status
Coach, mentor and technically assist junior engineers
Find opportunities for improvements and operational cost savings

Required

Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 5-7 years of related experience
Experience on launch vehicles, aircraft or similar in one or more of the following areas:
Design of minimal-mass structure, especially pressurized structures
Design of interfaces to fluid systems such as baffles, anti-vortex devices, or cryogenic seals
Material development and structural testing
Experience with composite structures and adhesive bonding design and manufacturing principles
Strong 3D CAD modelling skills with demonstrated examples of owning engineering definition from concept to production
Ability to conduct structural analysis using classical hand-calculation and finite element techniques
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance analysis to ASME Y14.5

Preferred

A passion for new technology development
Strong communication skills, with an ability to quickly build consensus among stakeholders
Experience in a fast-paced environment of rapid hardware design and fabrication
Experience with developing and executing oxygen-compatibility material tests
Expertise with any industry standard analysis codes: Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, LS Dyna, Hypermesh, Hypersizer
Experience or with fabrication, assembly, and repair of large-scale composite structures
Experience developing manufacturing processes for rate production
Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control
