InternLumentum is a market leader in high power semiconductor laser components, committed to passion and customer focus. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will work with engineers to design tooling and fixtures, create detailed drawings, perform inspections, and document engineering reports.

Responsibilities
Work with engineers to design tooling and fixtures for fiber-optic components development, perform tolerance analysis
Create detailed piece part and assembly drawings, specify dimensions, materials, and procedures
Preform incoming inspection on received parts
Assemble and test prototype component, tooling and equipment
Document and ECO release of engineering reports, engineering drawings, bill of materials and equipment design specifications
Qualification
Required
Qualified candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related major. Students must be returning to school following the internship
The applicant shall be with abilities in mechanical design, drafting, tolerance analysis, and be familiar with the following software tools: SolidWorks, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Agile
The applicant shall possess strong analytic and statistic skills, and have the ability to work independently
Excellent hands-on, communication and team work skills required
Preferred
Strong communications, initiative, and teamwork
Knowledge of FEA software such as ANSYS is a plus
Experiences in opto-mechanical designs is a plus
Experiences with production development is a plus
