Responsibilities

Oversee semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll processing for 3,000+ employees, ensuring 100% accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance
Provide hands-on leadership, guidance, and quality assurance for payroll operations and staff
Serve as the resident Subject Matter Expert (SME) for payroll regulations, with a strong emphasis on New York State and multi-state U.S. payroll compliance
Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, ensuring ongoing compliance and risk mitigation
Maintain deep technical expertise in payroll withholdings, including complex payroll taxes, medical benefit elections, 403(b) contributions, garnishments, and a broad range of benefits-related deductions
Ensure accurate setup, maintenance, and reconciliation of all deductions
Lead the maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of integrations between HRIS and payroll systems
Partner with internal teams to improve data flow, system accuracy, and automation
Drive the annual W-2 issuance process and manage all internal and external payroll audits, including responding to inquiries and supporting documentation requests
Ensure audit readiness through strong controls, reconciliations, and documentation
Act as a trusted business partner to HR, Benefits, FP&A, and Accounting
Manage and maintain external vendor relationships, including benefits providers, brokers, and 403(b) administrators
Identify opportunities to automate, optimize, and audit the payroll lifecycle to enhance compliance, reduce manual effort, and improve scalability
Lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organizational growth and financial transformation goals

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Active Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role
ADP Workforce Now (WFN)
