The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking a Regulatory Consultant to support the Bureau of Fair Rides Inspection. The role involves analyzing documents, facilitating public records requests, and assisting with regulatory compliance for amusement rides.

Responsibilities
Analyzes and scans incoming documents in the fair rides database as prescribed by law
Accurately inputs registration/permit information into database according to established procedures
Reviews Documents To Determine Appropriate Action, Including
Analysis of registration/permit applications to determine compliance with state laws and rules
Review of affidavit of compliance and non-destructive testing documents
Communication of deficiencies on documents to affiants/insurance adjusters
Analyzing and processing complaints or other evidence to identify regulatory violations
Referrals to other personnel, sections or agencies when necessary
Accurately facilitates public records requests according to established guidelines and assigns follow-up to appropriate staff
Documents and updates all amusement ride company points of contact for future correspondence regarding licensure and expirations. Assists office staff with correspondence to amusement ride industry
Reviews and processes all documents received from businesses as well as inspection staff in a timely fashion. Notifies staff of deficiencies with documentation to ensure corrective action can be taken immediately. Updates and processes all inspection documentation timely to ensure accurate documentation is accessible for field inspection staff
Works with businesses and consumers to informally mediate disputes within program area by letter, email, fax and phone. Updates database with all documents and communications pursuant to established guidelines
Serves as first point of contact for all telephone inquiries and requests from businesses, other government agencies and consumers. Documents details of conversations and refers to appropriate personnel as necessary. Provides information to consumers and businesses on their rights and responsibilities, and provides information to facilitate the permitting process for the bureau
Works directly with inspection staff providing assistance with all documentation pertaining to licensure/permitting of amusement rides
Assists management in conducting necessary research and/or providing regulatory statistics, as requested. May also assist management by monitoring and reviewing processes to detect areas that may need improvement
Refers violations for potential administrative action to supervisory staff based upon the analyses of properly documented records
Assists the Administrative Assistant III with scheduling of inspection requests for over 9,000 inspections annually
This position is required to assist co-workers and other sections within the division and perform related work and other tasks as requested by division management. Employee may be asked to perform special duties in relation to the Departments Emergency Response Obligations
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional or nonprofessional experience in administrative work, regulatory work, consumer complaint program work, interviewing, business administration, customer or public relations or investigations
Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education
An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals six (6) years can substitute for the above requirements
Graduates utilizing education attained in the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position will not be appointed until verification of the applicable degree has been obtained
Foreign trained graduates utilizing a degree attained outside of the United States to meet the minimum requirements of a position must be prepared to provide a copy of a credential evaluation conducted by an Approved Credential Evaluation Agency
