Postdoctoral Scientist
The University of Maryland is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct cutting-edge research in nanoscale heat transfer and ultrafast thermal metrology. The successful candidate will lead experimental efforts using optical pump–probe techniques and collaborate with computational and materials teams.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and operate ultrafast pump–probe thermoreflectance systems
Perform TDTR, FDTR, and SSTR measurements for thermal and interfacial properties
Develop new experimental methodologies for nanoscale thermal characterization
Collaborate with computational and materials teams
Mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
Experience with pump–probe optics or ultrafast spectroscopy
Hands-on experience with TDTR, FDTR, SSTR, or thermoreflectance methods
Strong background in thermal transport modeling
Excellent communication skills
