DIRECTOR, LOUISIANA SCHOLARS' COLLEGE

Northwestern State University is seeking a broadly trained individual for the position of Director of the Louisiana Scholars' College, the state's designated honors college. The Director is the chief academic officer for the unit and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities

Assume total academic, fiscal, and inventory control of the Louisiana Scholars' College
Manage personnel; prepare budgets; coordinate hiring of faculty and staff; develop class schedules; formulate and execute student retention plans; secure external funding; exhibit knowledge of technological applications
Work closely with the College's full-time faculty to ensure the promotion of academic and scholarly excellence as well as a positive, visionary, student-oriented and caring academic atmosphere
Maintain a minimum teaching load of 6+ credit hours each academic semester
Teach courses in the College at both the introductory and advanced levels in a manner that promotes academic excellence and be able to direct undergraduate thesis research in the respective are of expertise
Participate in scholarly/creative activities
Work closely with university and community leaders to promote the Louisiana Scholars' College at regional, national, and international levels
Assist faculty in identifying and recruiting talented and gifted students to the College from the United States and beyond
Assist in the marketing, recruiting, and retention plans for the College as defined by the office of Enrollment Management
Facilitate the admissions decision process to the College and the awarding of College­ specific scholarships
Coordinate and participate in a comprehensive academic advising program for the College
Maintain an open-door policy that will provide access to the LSC constituency and to all members of the University Community
Direct program assessment and periodic self-study efforts for the College
Maintain a collegial relationship with peers and colleagues through the University
Develop a vision for success which could apply to Northwestern State University
Be a strong advocate for the faculty, staff, and students of the College
Support the President, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dean of College of Arts and Sciences

Required

Shall hold the terminal degree (PhD or comparable) in an area related to programs within the Louisiana Scholars' College
