ELECTRIC OPERATIONS INTERN
Fayetteville Public Works Commission is transforming the grid with cutting-edge technology, and they are seeking an Electric Operations Intern to support major projects and help modernize the network. The role includes collaborating with staff, documenting progress, and gaining real-world exposure to advanced electric systems.

Responsibilities
Support Major Projects: Work alongside engineers and technicians as we implement a brand‑new Electric SCADA system
Help Modernize the Network: Assist with the transition from a managed network to a software‑defined network (SDN)—a major step toward smarter, more flexible operations
Gain Real‑World Exposure: Learn how advanced electric systems are monitored, controlled, and optimized
Collaborate & Document: Work with Electric Operations staff to capture updates, document progress, and support project coordination
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a four-year accredited university/college, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Completion of at least two years of relevant coursework
Basic understanding of electrical systems and computer applications (Excel, Word, etc)
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Applicants should be able to commit to the entire internship duration
Valid North Carolina Driver's License
