Senior Network Analyst

Polk County BoCC is seeking a Senior Network Analyst to join their Information Technology Division. This professional role involves providing expert analytical and technical support for the county's computerized networks, focusing on Microsoft 365 Cloud Services and ensuring the security and optimization of the ecosystem.

Service Industry

Responsibilities

Manage Exchange Online configuration and operations, including:
Mail flow configuration
Transport rules and connectors
Shared mailboxes and resource mailboxes
Administer Microsoft Teams:
Teams and channel lifecycle management
Configuration of Teams policies and settings
Support for meetings and collaboration features
Manage SharePoint Online:
Site collections and hub sites
Permissions management per established governance models
Storage allocation and optimization
Support OneDrive for Business usage and storage management
Enforce Microsoft 365 governance standards related to:
Site and team creation
Naming conventions
Retention configurations as defined by policy owners
Manage lifecycle processes for:
Teams, groups, and SharePoint sites
Mailboxes and distribution lists
Ensure configuration consistency across the tenant
Develop and maintain automation using:
PowerShell
Microsoft Graph (administrative operations only)
Streamline onboarding, offboarding, and service request fulfillment processes
Reduce manual administrative tasks through scripting and standardized workflows
Support collaboration services in alignment with public records and records retention requirements as defined by policy and legal teams
Assist with content organization and platform configuration to support public records requests and audits
Coordinate with records management staff on platform usage considerations
Lead or support Microsoft 365–related projects, including:
Platform upgrades and feature rollouts
Tenant consolidations or migrations
Collaboration platform modernization initiatives
Evaluate new Microsoft 365 features and provide impact assessments and recommendations
Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and Microsoft support as needed
Serve as escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 operational issues
Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff and service desk teams
Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks
Interacts with clients and agencies to review new and modified requests for hardware, software and network systems for adherence to documented standards
Ensures that all LAN, WAN, server, data storage, and associated personal computer related equipment is maintained in a good state of repair
Assists the IT management staff in developing short- and long-range recommendations of LAN, WAN, server, data storage, and personal computer networking needs (i.e.: strategic planning/capacity planning, analysis of equipment, repairs, maintenance contracts, etc.)
Performs needs assessments to assure appropriate justification for technical improvements and/or modifications
Submits information necessary to prepare portions of the IT budget and other user division budget information which pertain to networks and personal computers
Assures that all county networks are compatible with, and can effectively interface to one another, including systems in use by the constitutional offices
Provides connectivity between the Board of County Commission (BoCC) platforms and other platforms interfaced to the county
Monitors activity on all network systems and segments, perpetuating efficient online services
Participates with periodic capacity plans of the network traffic, taking necessary actions to maximize the availability of the online network
Identifies cost savings initiatives and opportunities for technology consolidation
Keeps abreast of new technologies for increased efficiency and productivity
Sets up procedures for reporting and ensuring timely response to network and personal computer operational problems
Make evaluations and determinations of equipment repair needs, identifying problem(s) and ensuring that matters are corrected whether the technical problem can be resolved internally or by contacting vendor repair technicians
Perform assignments applying expert-level proficiency in one or more of the technologies installed at the BoCC as outlined in the major functions listed above
Performs technical leadership as a key team leader fostering commitment, team spirit, pride and trust. (Leading by example)
Facilitates and fosters open communication and cooperation between stakeholders within the organization and with customer groups ensuring a positive teamwork environment
Serves as a principal technical leader and exercises leadership to define and implement organizational initiatives that foster high quality service essential to achieve and maintain outstanding performance
Performs an extremely broad range of very complex technical activities and assignments and activities that require effective multi-tasking adhering to applicable divisional business processes
Contributes to and executes technical project plans or schedules and coordinates requirements, tasks, work assignments, resources, and critical milestones effectively prioritizing tasks for individuals and work groups
Makes and delivers informal and formal presentations and training both verbally and in writing, to peers, managers, and customers at various levels of the organization using clear, concise and effective communication

Required

Graduate of an accredited two (2) year community college or technical/vocational school and have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the support of large computer networks, including a minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting personal computer set-up and configuration
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment within this classification
Must provide and utilize personal transportation in daily travel to remote sites
Must have a home telephone (or primary cell phone) within thirty (30) days of employment in this classification as employee is subject to being called after hours
The employee in this position is subject to being placed on 'Stand By' or be placed 'On Call' for scheduled nights and/or weekends
Must possess the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below

Preferred

Experience with one or more of the following: Infrastructure: Cisco and/or Aruba connectivity, VoIP, VLANs, subnetting, and Wi-Fi technology
File Servers: Active Directory, Exchange, VMWare, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, Windows 2025
Disk-based Storage: Fiber channel SANs, ISCSI SANs, and Disk/Tape based backup methodologies
Experience with MS Visio and MS Project
SQL maintenance, including re-indexing, connectivity, and database tuning
