Hartford Volunteer Reader Coordinator VISTA

AmeriCorps is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the lives of individuals and families. The VISTA Volunteer Reader Coordinator will help break the cycle of poverty by providing literacy supports to children from birth to third grade, recruiting and training volunteers to promote reading proficiency and academic success.

Responsibilities

Work with school and partner agency staff to develop a plan to increase student enrollment and participation
Evaluate program materials and update training materials and onboarding resources
Develop and implement a recruitment strategy to identify new volunteers and coordinate program schedule and assignments
Track volunteer engagement, provide on-site program support, and monitor program performance and student improvement
Develop regular volunteer communications, evaluate volunteer experience, gather feedback, and coordinate recognition events
Attend regular team meetings, report to your supervisor, and perform other assigned duties as necessary
