Responsibilities
RF Systems Management: Install, configure, and optimize Radio Frequency (RF) communication systems. This includes tuning antennas, testing signal strength, and ensuring zero interference across emergency frequency bands
Hardware Integration: Perform hands-on installation of complex camera systems (dash-cams, LPR, and cabin monitoring) and mobile data terminals within specialized vehicle fleets
Technical Troubleshooting: Act as the primary onsite expert for diagnosing intermittent hardware failures, software glitches in communication modules, and wiring harness issues
Public Safety Compliance: Work directly with police and fire departments to ensure all radio configurations meet local and federal emergency standards
Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine system "health checks" on fleet electronics to preemptively identify and resolve potential points of failure
Documentation: Maintain precise logs of system configurations, hardware serial numbers, and maintenance history for audit and compliance purposes
Qualification
Required
Deep technical knowledge of Radio Frequency principles, including signal propagation, grounding, and shielding
Demonstrated experience specifically working with police and fire department vehicle radios (e.g., Motorola, Harris, or Kenwood P25 systems)
Expert-level 'hands-on' skills. You must be comfortable with vehicle disassembly, custom mounting, precision drilling, and complex wire routing
Proficiency in using multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators to isolate technical faults
Must hold a valid, current Radio License (such as an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License or equivalent)
Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to work 100% in the field, often in outdoor or garage environments
