Instrumentation Technician II
Orange County Sanitation District is seeking an Instrumentation Technician II to perform maintenance, calibration, and repair of process control instrumentation and related equipment. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing various process control components and modifying control systems to ensure optimal operation.

Responsibilities
Performs increasingly complex maintenance, calibration, and repair of process control instrumentation and related equipment
Implements additions or modifications to control systems
Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, electronic, microprocessor-based, and pneumatic and mechanical process control components
Identifies, isolates, and diagnoses failures using various types of test equipment
Collects/collates then analyzes data/info
Creates, reviews, and/or edits P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, electrical schematics/diagrams, and control program logic
Installs, modifies, reprograms process control components, such as VFDs, panels, cables, PLC/DCS, and additions or modifications of control systems
Responsible for helping source and install parts, equipment, piping, and wiring per design specifications
Calibrates the instruments
Tests the systems
Corrects any failures and coordinates various work and repairs with other divisions as necessary
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized training or coursework such as relevant trade school in instrumentation technology or a related field
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience maintaining, calibrating, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical process control instruments
Must possess a valid California Class C Driver's License
Preferred
Knowledge of instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems' calibration and maintenance with conventional/best-practice/industry-standard methods, tools, equipment, and safety procedures
ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) certification or successful completion of an I&C formal apprenticeship and/or accredited training program
Effective and efficient troubleshooting and repair skills with extensive experience in I&C systems related to wastewater/chemical processing, electrical power generation with internal combustion engines, generators, and emissions monitoring, PLC/SCADA/DCS, and industrial control networking systems
Ability to create, process, and review field data and other technical documentation to produce reports/analyses, proficiently use computer applications, such as MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and IBM Maximo/CMMS, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Familiarity with Beamex Field Calibrator and Communicator
