Hardware Lab Technician
Cypress HCM is seeking a Hardware Lab Technician to support hardware development by prototyping and testing electrical assemblies. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for assembling and disassembling hardware prototypes, ensuring their mechanical and electrical integrity.

Responsibilities
Assemble and disassemble early hardware prototypes, ensuring mechanical and electrical integrity. Perform precision solder rework on fine-pitch components, including through-hole and surface-mount (SMT) devices. Modify and repair PCB assemblies according to engineering change orders and debug findings
Build custom wire harnesses and coaxial cable assemblies for prototype systems. Crimp, splice, and terminate connectors following IPC and industry best practices. Maintain inventory of cables and connectors for rapid prototyping cycles
Operate standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters) to verify electrical continuity and basic functionality
Ensure safe practices are always followed
Qualification
Required
5+ years of hands-on experience in a hardware lab, supporting prototype builds for consumer electronics or similar products
Proficient in soldering SMT (01005s, fine pitched BGAs, etc.) and through-hole components with hot-air and hand-soldering techniques
Skilled in wire harness and cable assembly, including crimping, stripping, and heat-shrink application
Comfortable interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and assembly documentation
Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical connectivity and mechanical fit issues
Familiarity with ESD-safe practices and basic electrical safety
Experience with reballing BGA packages and fine-pitch rework under a microscope
