Electronic Communication Technician II

NEOGOV is seeking an Electronic Communication Technician II to join their Radio Communication Services (RCS) team. This role involves programming, installing, repairing, and maintaining land mobile radio equipment and related auxiliary equipment for various government agencies in King County.

Responsibilities

Install/remove all types of subscribers and site related radio and electronic communications equipment
Troubleshoots all types of subscribers and site related radio and electronic communications equipment to component level
Provides required equipment documentation including system parameters and levels, repair history and maintains records regarding work orders, FCC and other regulatory matters as well as system modifications
May serve as an initial point of technical contact for communications equipment users and review reported technical troubles and analyze failure trends on a component, radio or system level
Other duties as assigned

Required

Associate degree in electronics or Military Communications electronics training equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of two-way land mobile experience or Military two-way communication equivalent
Experience in two-way land mobile radio repair, maintenance, and operation
Experience with Motorola 800 MHz trunked radio subscribers and trucked systems
Experience with VHF/UHF conventional radio subscribers and on campus systems
Knowledge of intermediate/advanced communications equipment and advanced communications technology
Knowledge of radio installation and maintenance practices
Ability to comprehend operations of the overall radio system being maintained and implications of subscriber and box failures on system operations
Ability to research solutions to technical issues utilizing service manuals, service notices, service bulletins and other technical resources
Must be proficient in using computers and computer software to perform system diagnostics, interpret results, program equipment and maintain equipment and system databases
Must have the demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with others
Must be able to contribute positively to a team environment
Must have the ability to always maintain focus and attention on work tasks
Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's License at the time of hire; you will be required to drive a county vehicle on a regular basis
Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam
Successful completion and ability to maintain an acceptable background clearance level to include fingerprinting

Preferred

FCC GROL License or commercial equivalent (NARTE, NABER, APCO etc.)
In-depth knowledge of Motorola subscriber programming and tuning software
Knowledge of other subscriber programming and tuning software
Experience in the use of Office 365 products, Dynamics ticketing applications and Peer to Peer device communication software
Prior experience in public sector and/or a desire to work in public service
