Principal Software Engineer
Ally Financial is a customer-centric, leading digital financial services company. They are seeking a Principal backend engineer to help develop software applications supporting the Brokerage line of business, responsible for developing IT solutions critical for trading functions.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with other developers as a member of an Agile [Scrum/Kanban] team and provide significant contributions to iterative rapid feature development cycles
Use technical knowledge, creativity and company practices and priorities to create solutions to complex business problems
Maintain code solutions using Git version control and CI/CD best practices
Work with Product Owner to understand business requirements and translate into technical implementation strategies
Partner with QA Analysts to ensure quality code is promoted to test environments
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand ups, sprint review demonstrations, sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, etc
Liaison between product, architecture, and development team members
Works directly with product owners to ensure stories contain the right balance of technical direction, best practices, and level of detail
Coordinates projects with Engineering and Operations team to reduce impact on application development teams, including build-out of new development environments
Drives continuous improvement through coaching, pair programming, code review processes, and round table discussions
Instills strong focus and best practices for creation and maintenance of high-quality deliverables
Communicates effectively with senior leadership and other development teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject preferred
5+ years of experience as a backend developer required
Proficiency in programming languages Java, C# along with cloud technology AWS, and DevOps tools Terraform and Gitlab required
2 years of experience serving as a technical lead and work with other team members required
2 years of experience working in an Agile setting with other developers, QA, Scrum Masters and Product Owners required
Ability to supervise junior developers and make personnel decisions
Ability to manage multiple sophisticated software development projects
Ability to debug complex applications during Production Incident triage
Knowledge of all phases of software development including design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and support
Ability to effectively communicate software development issues and recommendations to senior level management within and outside of IT
Experience developing code according to acceptance criteria in user stories
Ability to debug existing code base and propose viable resolutions
Ability to thoroughly understand the business issues surrounding each project
Experience with standard change management tools and processes
Preferred
Experience using Relational and/or NoSQL Databases preferred
Experience in financial technology is preferred, but not required
