Responsibilities

Oversee underwriting strategies for multiple carriers with the goal of sustainable profitability
Oversee the evaluation of insurance applications for rescission and cancellation
Provide guidance on complex underwriting decisions, leveraging your expertise to optimize risk selection and profitability
Implement risk mitigation strategies and controls to minimize exposure and ensure underwriting integrity
Continuously evaluate underwriting processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for enhanced profitability
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Oversee responses to consumer complaints
Audit MGU for compliance with underwriting statutes and regulations, as well as best practices
Collaborate with other departments to ensure that underwriting processes are integrated with other business functions

Required

10+ years of experience in property and casualty underwriting, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to assess complex risks and make data-driven decisions
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence outcomes

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related field
Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, AU, ARM)
Specific experience in underwriting homeowners insurance in New York
