Senior Engineer - Plastics
Mercury Marine, a part of Brunswick Corporation, is a global leader in marine technologies. They are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of cowling and latching systems for marine outboard engines.

Responsibilities
Design and analyze customer facing Class A Cowl components, seals, panel to panel fit, and related components/systems
Develop designs for Class A components and customer interaction points utilizing a multitude of manufacturing processes
Contribute to concept and process exploration through competitive assessments, concept trade off studies, cross functional reviews, etc
Work cross-functionally with Industrial Design/Branding to develop Class A parts and customer interaction points for outboard engines
Identify, generate, and compare solutions while showcasing compromises (fit and finish, cost, mass, schedule, resources, manufacturability etc)
Develop and execute FMEA's, DVP's, DFSS tools, facilitate failure analysis and corrective actions
Ability to present risk and technical issues in design for review
Collaborate with and provide direction to CAD designers and test technicians
CAD (Creo) 3D model and drawing creation: Specify proper technical information and GD&T
Contribute to Technical specifications and scopes of work for Purchased Components
Analyze and present test data and results to inform decision making and design direction
Provide support for Current Product Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve and implement solutions to technical problems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
6+ year of experience in product development
Understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes (sheet metal forming, aluminum casting, injection molded plastic, molded or extruded rubber, sheet molded compound)
Preferred
Experience with: Injection molded plastic processes
Gap and flush design for body panels
Large class A component design
Seal design and development
NVH design and development
FMEA process
Six sigma tools and application
Understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Ability to utilize Creo for model and print creation, 3D model evaluation or component analysis
Experience within Teamcenter engineering or similar PLM software/Change Release Process
