Responsibilities

Support the program by developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, hazardous material management planning and execution
Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards
Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings
Flow down system safety requirements to suppliers and verify design implementation
Assist in requirements development and verification
Reviews specifications, technical documentation, and design changes for impacts to system safety
Support customer and test/operational range requirements
Participates in the development of testing activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied
Prepare technical documentation and presentation material to support various independent safety board meetings to gain approval on system design
Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline
Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882
Developing and evaluating system safety requirements
Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines
Proficient knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to make formal presentations to large groups
Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred

Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards
Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering
Familiarity with missile and launcher systems
Secret clearance with current 6-year background check
Model-based engineering knowledge
Experience with DOORS requirements application
Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction
Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy
Able to learn and work with System Safety specific software tools
