Responsibilities
Provide mechanical process design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS
Perform engineering analysis, design development, and technical evaluations for mechanical and process systems
Develop, revise, and maintain design output documents , including but not limited to:
Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
System Descriptions
Mechanical Equipment Lists and Equipment Sizing
Pipe and Valve Specifications
Failure and Accident Analysis documentation
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
ASME Code design and evaluation
Pipe Stress Analysis
Material Handling system design
Fire Protection system design
HVAC design
Vendor submittals and technical document reviews
Conduct field walkdowns to support design development, verification, and constructability
Support construction, startup, testing, and operations activities as required
Ensure all engineering work complies with SRNS procedures, DOE requirements, ASME codes, and applicable industry standards
Coordinate with process, electrical, I&C, construction, operations, maintenance, and project management teams
Prepare and maintain accurate, high-quality, auditable technical documentation

U.S. Citizenship Required
DOE Q Clearance (active preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain)
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Minimum 10 years of design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry
Minimum 5 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a nuclear industry or nuclear facility
Strong experience with mechanical and process system design
Proven experience producing PFDs, P&IDs, and system design documentation
Experience with mechanical equipment sizing and specifications
Working knowledge of ASME codes, pipe stress analysis, and mechanical design standards
Experience with failure analysis, accident analysis, and FEA
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to effectively interface with engineering, construction, and operations teams
Experience supporting field walkdowns in industrial or nuclear environments
Ability to perform weekly field walkdowns, including walking long distances over uneven terrain, climbing ladders and accessing elevated equipment, working in industrial and radiological environments
Must comply with SRNS safety, radiological, and work control requirements
Preferred
Prior SRNS / SRS / DOE facility design engineering experience
Active or recent DOE Q or L clearance (within the past 2 years)
Familiarity with SRNS design processes and procedures
