Responsibilities
Maintains and repairs machinery such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment
Performs maintenance and repairs to physical structures of facility
Reads and understands blue prints, schematics, and technical drawings
Conducts tests to locate mechanical system malfunction
Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
Repairs or replaces defective parts
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
Lubricates and cleans parts
Uses machine tools in installation, maintenance or repair
Starts devices to test their performance
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Minimum of five years related experience and/or training
Ability to read and understand blue prints, schematics, and technical drawings
Ability to conduct tests to locate mechanical system malfunction
Ability to observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
Ability to dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
Ability to examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
Ability to inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
Ability to adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments
Ability to repair or replace defective parts
Ability to install special functional and structural parts in devices
Ability to lubricate and clean parts
Ability to use machine tools in installation, maintenance or repair
Ability to start devices to test their performance
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
