Responsibilities

Develop and execute integrated and comprehensive philanthropic strategies reflective of emerging trends and aligned with organizational mission, financial sustainability and long-term growth
Identify and lead fundraising initiatives, ensuring alignment of major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, stewardship and special campaigns
Partner with CEO and Board to cultivate and steward relationships and activate capital campaigns or new enterprise initiatives with institutional funders, major donors, foundations, corporations, and other key stakeholders
Expand and diversify donor base through prospect research to identify and prioritize potential donors and funding opportunities
Build and nurture a culture of philanthropy both internally and externally by fostering donor education and engagement opportunities that deepen understanding of trust-based philanthropy and strengthen authentic, values-aligned partnerships
Elevate national visibility, brand, voice and reputation of Vivent Health in the communities we serve; especially for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and medically underserved communities
Drive a cohesive external affairs strategy that amplifies mission impact and advances organizational reach
Represent the organization as principal ambassador at fundraising events, civic engagements, media and coalition forums
Plan and execute donor engagement events, including prospective patient engagement and cultivation events, local fundraising and community-based events, and donor, patient, and community recognition activities
Direct enterprise-wide, data-informed strategy for communications, marketing, public relations and stakeholder engagement that drives measurable increases in brand visibility, public awareness and strategic partnerships
Execute an innovative, integrated, external communications and marketing plan that elevates Vivent Health’s reputation and expanded market influence, resulting in year over year increases in media impressions, digital engagement and community reach
Accelerate digital engagement and external communications capabilities by driving a modernized, scalable approach to social media, digital engagement, and online brand presence
Provide integrated executive leadership to Philanthropy and Community Engagement, Marketing and Communications and high priority national partnerships
Develop revenue forecasts and budgets for philanthropy, marketing campaigns, and related initiatives and monitor progress towards fundraising goals
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including programmatic teams, care services, human resources, and finance, to integrate external affairs efforts with organizational strategies
Analyze fundraising data, track key performance metrics, and prepare regular reports on fundraising, marketing, and patient recruitment outcomes and progress
Ensure donor compliance, federal funding stewardship, and ethical policies

Required

Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Philanthropy, or related field
10+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
Demonstrated success in leading integrated external-facing portfolios across multiple disciplines including major gift fundraising, brand strategy, donor stewardship, and high‑level external engagement
Ability to chart a bold direction for External Affairs and unify fragmented functions into a cohesive, high-performing division
Exceptional ability to build trust with staff, donors, community leaders, and partners across diverse local contexts
Sophisticated understanding of brand strategy, public positioning, and communications in a mission-driven organization
Understanding of donor motivations, fundraising pipelines, and stewardship principles
Experience building teams, implementing systems, managing change, and driving accountability
Deep respect for and connection to LGBTQ+ communities, people living with HIV, and other marginalized populations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey the organization's mission, vision, and impact to donors and stakeholders
Collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders to advance philanthropic and community engagement initiatives
Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify challenges and develop solutions to overcome them
Adhere to ethical standards and integrity in all philanthropy activities and interactions
