Sr. Motor Controls Integration Engineer

Responsibilities
Responsible for the calibration and optimization of electric motor control features, and the integration testing of algorithms on dynamometer and vehicle platforms
Develop and test electric motor control algorithms and calibrations for high power electric drive system consisting of high voltage power converters and electric motors (such as surface mounted and interior permanent magnet machines, induction machines, and other machine technologies)
Work with our controls and software developers to calibrate and validate the functionality of motor control features across vehicle dynamics, infotainment, connectivity, thermal, and other domains
Collaborate with other test teams to help ensure full test coverage across: high-voltage dynamometer tests, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests, Sub-component test, Vehicle test
Have good understanding of vehicle integrations. Maintain health of vehicle fleet and root-cause software, mechanical, and electrical issues
Ensure success integration in meeting performance specification of the electric drive system when integrating with various sub-components or systems Have good understanding of vehicle integrations. Maintain health of vehicle fleet and root-cause software, mechanical, and electrical issue
Plan and perform regression testing for algorithm and calibration development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as development teams, vehicle test teams, diagnostic teams and service teams
Perform simulation and analysis of electric drive system
Work as part of a fast-paced, diverse team of professionals supporting component development and subsystem and vehicle integration
Participate in vehicle test trip support for cold and hot weather testing
Stays abreast of new technologies and competitive methods and products
Submit patents and trade secrets to advance Rivian Intellectual Property portfolio in the field of propulsion drive controls
Qualification
Required
M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, with background of motor control algorithms and electric machine characterization
3+ year EV or equivalent experience
Fluency in the theory and principles of AC electric machine drive and three-phase switching power converter topologies
Fluency in Model-based design using Matlab/Simulink, modeling and simulation of electric drives
Fluency in Git or other version control software system
Fluency in C/C++ and python programming languages
Experiences with tools for measurement and integration such as CANalyzer, CANape, or similar
Experiences with vehicle testing
Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% based on business demands
Excellent interpersonal skills in a fast-paced team
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to work with minimum supervision and full autonomy
Hands-on experience working in high voltage high power laboratory and/or vehicle test environment
