Community and Collaborator Engagement Program Manager

The University of California, Davis is seeking a Community and Collaborator Engagement Program Manager to lead the new program within the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC). Responsibilities

Developing strategies and plans for program communications and outreach
Providing consultations and mentorship to scholars, fellows, and faculty across the UC Davis clinical and translational research enterprise
Increasing research collaborations on community engaged methods
Accelerating integration of communities in all phases of translational research
Providing platforms to facilitate research in collaboration at UCD and as a hub for national activities
Identifying, adapting, creating, and disseminating innovative tools, services, workshops, and public events
Developing and maintaining relationships with external partners and advisory boards, and representing the program to outside agencies and the public
Monitoring and evaluating program progress and recommending changes to content and strategy as required to ensure success
Providing administrative supervision of professional staff

Required

Doctorate in related area and/or equivalent experience and training in public health, social science or related field
At least five (5) years serving in an academic, government, or large non-profit environment
Excellent written and verbal communication in Standard English, and expert interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with faculty and staff across the institution and community stakeholders with mutual interests
Successful experience developing health/research partnerships within higher education and/or philanthropy and the community
Understanding of the federal grant landscape and process, institutional strategies and priorities, and ability to make program plans responsive to new opportunities and challenges accordingly
Demonstrated expertise to initiate, forge, and maintain collaborative relationships with a faculty, staff, public sector, and community partners and maintain bidirectional communications with a diverse group of stakeholders
Ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills
Comfortable working with high degree of independence, handling ambiguity, and proactively developing and managing a high volume and variety of tasks and activities
Experience synthesizing research results for publication and presentation to colleagues and the public
Experience providing consulting services to advance programmatic initiatives and projects in a multi-cultural environment
Advanced skills and experience developing training and education curricula or materials for senior research, professional, and/or administrative staff
Experience managing multiple projects with competing deadlines in a matrix environment in partnership with faculty and staff
Managerial expertise to supervise staff and support their professional advancement
Excellent organizational and collaborative skills to develop and manage a complex organizational structure and leverage the expertise of faculty, colleagues, and subordinates to yield program deliverables
Expertise sufficient to produce refined work products with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, desktop publishing, survey, and data management software
Advanced knowledge of qualitative data analysis techniques and research methods, including community-engaged research, and direct experience with field-based, primary research
Advanced knowledge of program design, evaluation, and metrics and their application to program management and preparation of reports
Skills and experience to support financial decision making and human resource process responsibilities within UC Davis Health: budget development and management, and staff hiring, performance, and development
Knowledge of the IRB approval process

Preferred

Two (2) years work experience in a leadership role at UC Davis Health
Experience managing programs and staff in an academic, state, federal, or large non-profit environment
Experience with design, implementation and evaluation of community-based participatory research, population-based research, health policy, and/or place-based development initiatives
Experience with design and writing of outreach materials for a general audience
Abilities to conceive, plan, and oversee the execution of high-profile research workshops and events geared to special populations and general public audiences
Strong fundraising experience and thorough knowledge of grant funding mechanisms, especially state or federal. Experience with project management and preparation of complex research proposals
Multilingual and multicultural experience in a professional or academic arena
