Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of multidisciplinary impact media campaigns engaging and motivating diverse audiences to facilitate conservation action and outcomes
Serve as a public affairs advisor, develop a media campaign framework, and manage a portfolio of grantees and contractors producing strategically aligned place-based impact media and activations to influence conservation results
Provide leadership and effective collaboration with the Conservation and Government Relations teams and key partners to develop content and strategies to engage, educate, and mobilize toward conservation action
Lead an interdisciplinary team and serve as an advisor on complex and strategic issues—overseeing granting and contracting for impact media productions
Collaboratively engage with TNC teams, Conservation and Government Relations departments, reporting to and supporting the Florida Business Unit, while also supporting land connectivity and conservation campaigns of the New Jersey Business Unit
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in political science, environmental policy, management or other relevant field and 5 years of government relations, public affairs or corporate sector experience, or equivalent combination education/experience
Fluency in English
Analytical and project management experience. Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and implementing complex projects in an unstructured environment
Experience developing, directing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals
Proven communication and presentation skills
Proven negotiation skills
Valid driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program
Frequent travel required
Preferred
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience appreciated
5+ years leading diverse teams, with a proven ability to meet conservation and/or government relations objectives
Demonstrated success leading an impact campaign utilizing communications and storytelling to influence conservation objectives
Excellent strategic sense and an ability to set goals and priorities, managing limited resources for maximum impact
Experience leading large-scale conservation and/or messaging campaigns
Excellent team player with experience working in multi-disciplinary groups, using influence and interpersonal skills, listening, diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships with governments, corporations, partners, donors, volunteers, and all levels of staff
Demonstrated success working with a range of diverse parties, including local governments, landowners, private sector leaders, community leaders, and Tribes, to build coalitions
Media savvy with experience in placing stories and opinion pieces, with a track record of influencing conversations unfolding in the media
5+ years of experience planning and executing events engaging policymakers, lawmakers, journalists, or the public
Knowledge and understanding of Florida's marine and terrestrial landscapes as well as environmental history
Knowledge and understanding of landscape connectivity and wildlife corridors nationally
Ability to prioritize, manage multiple deadlines, and respond quickly to new opportunities and developments
Skilled in public speaking and serving as a spokesperson
