Responsibilities

Oversee timely cash deposits while maintaining accurate and complete accounting records
Keep management informed of all relevant matters related to the role
Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate cash balances
Ensure monthly balance sheet account reconciliations are completed accurately and on time
Compile and analyze financial data to prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Oversee the accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses, ensuring compliance with established accounting policies and procedures
Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
Assist with the preparation and submission of quarterly and annual reports in accordance with Department of Managed Health Care requirements
Prepare and submit required quarterly and annual financial reports to health plans
Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including variance analysis against actual results
Prepare for financial audits and coordinate audit activities with external auditors and health plans
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations while safeguarding the integrity of financial data
Assist with ad hoc projects and additional duties as assigned by management

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university
3+ years progressively responsible experience in Accounting
Strong quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data, including financial statements and key ratios
High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience involving extensive work with complex spreadsheets
Able to work with details as needed as well as understanding the big picture
Understanding of US GAAP and experience researching technical accounting issues
Highly motivated individual who can work independently

Preferred

Knowledge and experience in the managed care accounting
Experience working in a public accounting firm
Experience with SOX 404
Knowledge of SAGE 100 accounting software
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL
