Vice President - Outpatient Pharmacy Services
Henry Ford Health is a leading healthcare organization, and they are seeking a Vice President for Outpatient Pharmacy Services. This role is responsible for overseeing ambulatory and outpatient pharmacy operations, leading strategic development, and ensuring compliance with regulations while maximizing growth opportunities.

Responsibilities
Develops procedures and policies to ensure efficient and timely submission of prescription billings, and monitors account receivables from third party carriers
Execution will include development of customer insights and value propositions, support of sales activities and leadership of service delivery and customer support activities
Directs the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of contracted 340B programs, policies, and procedures to maximize gross profit, sales, and the efficiency of 340B pharmacy operations
Provides strategic planning, direction and decision making for pharmacy operations. Establishes vision for pharmacy operations supporting excellence in all aspects of pharmacy operations including regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, fiscal performance, pharmaceutical purchasing, pharmacy clinical practice model, pharmacy students & internship, pharmacy technicians, key performance indicators, benchmarks and dashboards for operations, expense and regulatory compliance excellence and manufacturer, wholesaler, and distributor management. Implements the most cost-effective organization structure for delivering integrated health system pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy services
Oversees technology to manage the medication use process and production in addition to optimization of clinical information systems to effectively manage medication use across the continuum
Establishes and maintains relationships with healthcare partners, employer groups, payers, PBM’s, manufacturers, government, and other third-party programs to coordinate and expand Specialty Pharmacy business
Leads and develops population health strategy for the pharmacy department. Develops clinical pharmacy and MTM programs designed to achieve optimal health outcomes for targeted populations crucial to the success of HFHS and HAP
Collaborates with Health Alliance Plan to improve star ratings
Assures the functions associated with the Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Programs run effectively, efficiently and assure the programs’ results are published in a timely manner to demonstrate the value to internal and external stakeholders
Establishes all procedural policies for day-to-day operation of pharmacy and enforces professional ethics
Oversees all IT operations and programming involved in pricing, billing, AR and dispensing of prescriptions
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs. Develops, communicates, builds support, and implements business strategies and practices. Analyzes costs and forecasting into business plans; determines and supports resource requirements; evaluates operational processes; measures outcomes to ensure desired results; identifies and capitalizes on improvement opportunities; promotes a customer environment; and demonstrates adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning
Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas
Interviews, hires, develops direct reports. Reviews direct report’s performances, coordinates work schedules for pharmacists and employees, makes recommendations regarding hiring, training, firing, promotions and takes disciplinary actions when deemed necessary
Qualification
Required
Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Master of Science degree in Hospital Pharmacy with equivalent curriculum required
Ten (10) years of experience in health system pharmacy practice, with demonstrated progressive experience and at least five (5) years in ambulatory pharmacy practice, specialty pharmacy and 340B management
Leadership experience in an integrated health system or hospital environment with broad clinical, operational, and regulatory background
Experience as a System Level pharmacy leader
Demonstrated leadership ability in working with, and coordinating activities of others, in developing improved pharmacy services, quality improvement, and cost-savings initiatives
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to contribute effectively to the dissemination of information to all levels of health care personnel in the health system
Demonstrated knowledge of progressive health-system pharmacy practice. Ability to conceptualize, align and explain strategic vision based upon multiple complex parameters, including healthcare marketplace, market trends, emerging pharmaceutical innovations, business impact, and product value
Must be fluent and have established proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytic tools to effectively capture and measure medication use, expense, and related trends
Current Michigan Licensure as a registered pharmacist required
Preferred
Advanced degree in health care or business administration preferred (i.e., MBA, MHSA, MPH, etc.)
Board certification in pharmacotherapy preferred
