Controller
Zion Talent Partners is seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead financial operations for a growing organization in the Stockton area. This senior-level role involves overseeing an accounting and finance team, managing close cycles, and supporting multi-entity operations to drive strong financial performance.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the accounting and finance function, including supervision and development of a financial team
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Prepare and present financial statements, variance analyses, and executive-level reporting packages
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
Manage intercompany accounting and consolidations across multiple entities
Maintain and optimize QuickBooks systems and internal accounting workflows
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies
Coordinate year-end audits, tax filings, and external advisors
Support cash flow management, banking relationships, and capital planning
Establish and improve accounting procedures, controls, and documentation as the company scales
Partner with operations leaders to analyze job costs, margins, and performance metrics
Jump in at any level when needed—from reviewing journal entries to assisting with reconciliations or special projects
Provide leadership in system implementations, process improvements, and financial integrations
Qualification
Required

Preferred
8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership of large teams
Strong QuickBooks expertise required
Demonstrated experience with intercompany transactions and multi-entity environments
Construction or Waste Management industry experience strongly preferred
Certified payroll experience is a plus
CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required
Proven track record of improving close cycles, controls, and financial visibility
Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment
