Responsibilities

Field inspection and oversight of transportation construction projects including bridges, road, traffic signals, signing, ITS and underground facilities
Monitor and record the work and progress of contractors, while tracking material quality and usage using FieldBook and ProjectWise
Verify that traffic control measures are implemented and maintained during construction
Maintain communication between AECOM supervisors and peers, MDOT and local agency personnel, contractor personnel and the general public
May assist with training entry-level employees
Perform NPDES inspections
Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Works under general supervision
May assist with training entry-level employees
Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties
Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records
Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning
Tracks quality assurance progress
Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education

Preferred

4+ years of MDOT, other state DOT, or local agency construction inspection experience required; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
Basic understanding of construction principles and practices
Ability to document any and all relevant events, issues and variances
Good active written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers
Ability to perform basic computations and calculations
Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
Valid Driver's license, with good driving record
MDOT certifications are required or must be earned within 6 months of beginning employment
