Mid-Level/Project Dam Safety Engineer

They are seeking a Mid-Level/Project Dam Safety Engineer with expertise in dam engineering disciplines to support their team in Austin, focusing on inspection, evaluation, and rehabilitation of dams and hydraulic structures.

Responsibilities
Perform engineering analysis and design calculations for dam engineering projects. Typical projects include dam safety inspections, risk assessments, geotechnical investigations and analysis, seepage and slope stability analysis, structural analysis and design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, dam upgrading design, bid support, construction contract administration and resident engineering services
Assist with preparation of engineering reports, technical documents, and technical specifications
Prepare construction drawings and other engineering figures with emphasis on civil and/or structural design
Perform visual inspections of dams and hydraulic structures
Conduct periodic site visits during construction
Assist with training and mentoring of junior engineers
Assist with developing cost proposals
Perform project management activities including planning and executing work, managing project budgets and schedule, and reviewing and approving invoices
Work as a team member within the Austin office and across other Schnabel offices to effectively balance workload among available resources
Periodic travel will be required
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program
Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas (preferred) or the ability to seek reciprocity upon employment
At 5 years of relevant technical experience in inspection, evaluation, design and construction of dams and hydraulic structures
Proficiency with common computer-aided analyses and modeling programs applicable to dam engineering
Experience and knowledge of applicable state and federal dam safety design methodologies, policies and regulations
Proficiency with common drafting and visualization programs such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcMap/GIS, and/or Google Sketch-up
Experience preparing construction drawings and technical specifications
Experience with construction of earth dams, concrete dams, and hydraulic structures
Willingness and ability to periodically perform field work and travel
Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders, and work outside
Experience with project management
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Attention to detail and well-organized
A strong work ethic and the desire to perform professionally at a high level
Ability to work as part of a team or independently
Preferred
A Master's Degree
Texas experience in inspection, evaluation, design and construction of dams and hydraulic structures
Texas experience with applicable state and federal dam safety design methodologies, policies and regulations
