Director of Advanced Practice

Responsibilities
Accountable for directing supervisors in each area of responsibility, including but not limited to Trauma/ER, Critical Care, Children’s Hospital, Women’s Services, Palliative Care, and Clinic Setting, to ensure effective, efficient and safe advanced practice care is provided during hours of operations based on evidence-based information and productivity standards
Responsible for determining appropriate alternative methods of delivery of care, in cooperation with Nursing Directors from multiple divisions and department personnel and implements approved changes in care practices
Responsible for developing and maintaining positive working relationships and effective communication between assigned staff, patients and their families, physicians, department personnel, other Medical Center personnel and outside agencies
Accountable to ensure consistent advanced practice care delivery to patients in response to fluctuating workload demands and/or staffing shortages
Responsible to create business plans for multiple assigned clinical services in order to achieve established goals and objectives. In doing so, recommends, implements, secures approval of, and/ administers new or revised programs, policies, procedures, and services which support the business plan
Manages the financial and capital resources for assigned clinical services including monitoring appropriate revenues and expenses, ensuring billing is complete and accurate, developing and implementing cost control programs, monitoring budget variances, initiating corrective action, and ensuring adherence to the fiscal year budget as appropriate
Responsible to establish and communicate appropriate quality standards for designated services and programs. Develops, implements and revises methods and/or procedures for measuring and reporting quality standards. Proactively contacts risk management for potential identified liability issues
Accountable to manage the human resources of assigned clinical services. In doing so, interviews, hires, orients, trains, assigns work to, evaluates the performance of supervisors Assists in resolving employee relations problems. Serves as a professional role model and develops leadership capacity of staff through coaching and mentoring. Enacts performance plans linked to the clinical practice model and the integrated scorecard
Evaluates new medical supplies and equipment, implementing approved supplies and equipment, and ensuring necessary education and understanding of correct application of same
Qualification
Required
Master's degree - Graduate degree in Advanced Practice Nursing or Physician Assistant studies
5 years progressively more responsible clinical advanced practice experience
3 years' experience leading advanced practice providers
Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant License in the state of Illinois
Illinois Controlled Substance License
Federal Controlled Substance License
Solid Computer Skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to assigned personnel, maintain positive relationships among staff, physicians and Medical Center personnel, interact with patients and visitors
Strong analytical skills necessary to organize and direct the work of others, develop, implement and administer policies, procedures, budgets and advanced practice strategies
Preferred
Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Medical Science
1-year direct patient care experience such as a sitter, nursing assistant, nursing student, or monitor technician
Demonstrated understanding and proficient in the use of the electronic medical records
