Responsibilities
Evaluate and process consumer loan applications, including mortgage loans, personal loans, auto loans, and other consumer credit products
Conduct thorough credit assessments, including analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and loan documentation
Develop customized lending solutions that align with the financial needs and goals of Native American clients
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures related to consumer lending
Provide exceptional service to clients by understanding their financial needs and offering tailored lending solutions
Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local organizations, and tribal entities
Offer financial education and guidance to clients on managing debt and improving credit scores
Represent the bank at community events and engage with tribal leaders and community organizations to promote lending programs and financial education
Collaborate with Branch leadership and other departments to support and implement community outreach initiatives and enhance financial literacy and related financial education programs within or near the reservation
Oversee the daily operations related to consumer lending, including loan processing, approval, and servicing
Ensure accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping for all consumer loans
Monitor loan performance and manage delinquency and collection efforts as needed
Stay current on relevant lending regulations, industry trends, and best practices
Ensure all lending activities are compliant with federal, state, and tribal regulations, as well as the bank’s internal policies
Prepare and present reports on lending activities, portfolio performance, and trends to senior management
Analyze loan data to identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategies to enhance the lending program
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in consumer lending, with a strong understanding of loan underwriting and credit analysis. A track record of launching new programs is essential
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
3 – 5 years of working in a bank branch environment. Have an ability to collaborate, be a team player and help where needed within the branch. This position will be the expert relationship builder within branch operations
Experience working with Native American communities, navigating applicable Trust requirements and understanding of tribal financial practices is highly desirable
Possess ability to understand the local market and community and can identify opportunities that align with community needs with the bank's products and mission
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, community members, and tribal leaders
Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Must be able to demonstrate initiative in building relationships, driving new business, and maintaining a strong pipeline in an emerging market
Proficiency in banking software and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to analyze financial data and make informed lending decisions
Deep respect and understanding of Native American culture, traditions, and values
Ability to work sensitively and effectively within the tribal community
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively
Attention to detail and accuracy in loan processing and documentation
Proven experience in consumer lending, with a track record of success in loan origination and management
Preferred
Familiarity with HUD-184 loan application and process is a PLUS
Experience with product development and implementation is a plus
