Civil Project Engineer
Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in heavy civil construction, drilling, concrete services, energy, and infrastructure solutions in Hawaiʻi. The Civil Project Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the planning and execution of civil construction projects, collaborating with Project Managers and field crews to ensure projects are completed on time and to Alpha standards.
Construction
Responsibilities
Support planning, organizing, and execution of civil construction projects alongside Project Managers
Analyze drawings, blueprints, specifications, and geotechnical reports to ensure accurate planning and execution
Use design software and drawing tools to clearly communicate and interpret technical information
Assist with estimates, budgets, and project schedules to keep work aligned with financial and timeline goals
Prepare and maintain project documentation including progress reports, material tracking, and budget updates
Support drafting and review of contracts, purchase orders, and change orders in compliance with requirements
Work closely with Project Managers, foremen, and subcontractors to resolve construction issues and workflow challenges
Track project performance and ensure work meets specifications and Alpha quality standards
Investigate issues quickly and help implement practical, timely solutions
Help enforce Alpha’s safety standards and ensure compliance with all safety protocols
Attend project meetings and communicate progress, risks, and updates clearly
Support positive client relationships by assisting with communication and issue resolution
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
2–3 years of experience in civil engineering, construction, or project management
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and construction/project management software
Strong understanding of construction processes and field operations
Excellent organization, communication, and follow-through
Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing accuracy
Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance
Preferred
PE license preferred (or on the path)
OSHA or industry certifications are a plus
