Sr Principal Cyber Systems Engineer

The role involves ensuring operational security for information systems, facilitating communication regarding security incidents, and developing cybersecurity processes and procedures.

Responsibilities
Perform as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) ensuring that the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for an information system or program
Serve as the point of contact for reporting any security or privacy incidents, facilitating prompt and accurate communication with the appropriate authorities
Establish strict program control processes to ensure mitigation of risks and compliance of security configuration guidelines (Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), security requirement guides, etc.)
Supports obtaining certification and accreditation of systems by directly compiling body of evidence authorization packages
Responsible for developing and executing test procedures to verify security controls
Train, mentor and guide Cybersecurity engineers in successful completion of applicable certifications IAW AFMAN 17-1303
Conduct cybersecurity assessment activities and review cybersecurity assessment methods, plans, procedures, and reports
Provide Cyber implementation guidance and oversight across technical teams
Develop and document technical standard engineering processes and procedures as needed
Provide input to program milestones and metrics, adhering to cybersecurity-relevant plans and schedules
Qualification
Required
Bachelors degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 8 years of experience; OR 6 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; OR 4 years of experience with STEM PhD degree
An additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor degree
Experience supporting the development of RMF assessment and authorization artifacts in accordance with NIST SP 800-37
Knowledge of Cyber Security Engineering practices, network technologies, DoD system development life cycles and/or methodologies
Possess current Security+ CE Certification
Candidate must be a US Citizen
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance. An active DoD Top Secret clearance is required prior to start
Preferred
Excellent cross-disciplinary communication skills, capable of briefing customers / upper management, collaborating with engineering teams, and aligning with stakeholders
Possess a current IASAE II certification (CISSP) in accordance with DoDD 8140 or able to obtain within 5 months of hire
Experience authoring and maintaining critical program documents such as System Security Plans, Continuous Monitoring Plans, Security Assessment Plans, etc
